General Adult Psychiatrist

Dr Evette Stephensen graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Queensland in 1997. She went on to complete her psychiatric training in Brisbane, earning her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She has been working as a consultant psychiatrist in private practice since 2005.

Evette is a general adult psychiatrist, working with people over 18 years of age. She sees people with a range of mental health conditions including but not limited to mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders including obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma spectrum disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Evette’s approach to mental health care includes:

  • Prescription of medication
  • Teaching of strategies to help people manage their symptoms
  • Helping people to have a better understanding of their thoughts and behaviours through psychotherapy.
  • Promoting attendance to general health and wellbeing. This may be in collaboration with other health professionals and incorporates exercise, nutrition, work-life balance and social connections.
